Obituary of Josephine A. Marl

Josephine A. Marl Pine Bush, NY Josephine Agnes Unverzagt Marl”Jo” passed away on August 17, 2021 peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was 82 years old. Born April 13, 1939 in Ellenville, NY, she was the daughter of the late Mary Tiano Unverzagt and Edward Unverzagt. Josephine was a resident of Cragsmoor NY where she lived and raised her family for 61 years. She graduated from Ellenville Central school in 1957 and returned to the Ellenville School District as a devoted teacher until she retired in 1998. Survivors include her two sons Christopher Marl and his wife Lori of Cragsmoor, Gregory Marl and his wife April of Cragsmoor, her Brother Edward Unverzagt of Summitville, Catherine Unverzagt of South Carolina, her Grandchildren, Jessica Yuhas, Heather Marl, Clyde Marl (Olivia), Erica Marl Torres(Benny), Emma Marl. Her Great Grandchildren, Lexi Thorpe, Travis Thorpe, Jr. Sameigha Smith, Christopher Velez, Levi Smith, and Ella Josephine Marl. Her nieces, Mary Renee Darmstadter, Nina Karas, Bridget Haight, and her nephew, Edward J Unverzagt and their families. Her former husband Clyde Samuel Marl. Jo was a member of the Ellenville Teachers Association, NYS United Teachers. Devout Catholic and lifelong member of St Mary’s & St Andrew’s Church in Ellenville. She loved shopping, reading, Chinese food, collecting antiques and found great joy in giving to others. Visitation will be held on Sunday August 22, 2021 from 4-7pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Rd Pine Bush NY. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday August 23, 2021 at 10am at the Church of St. Mary and St. Andrew 137 Main St. Ellenville, NY 12428.
