Samuel E. Forshay Jr., a longtime resident of the area, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on December 18, 2009 at Elant in Goshen, NY. He was 78. Samuel was born in Nyack, NY on October 18, 1931 to Samuel and Julia Forshay. Sam retired from Labors Local 754 in Bardonia, NY. He is survived by his longtime companion Marlene Lewis, sons Samuel E. Forshay III, and David Bumbaco, daughters Patricia Hernandez and her husband Elliot, and
Jo-Ann Sherman and her husband John, stepson Edward Lewis, grandson Ryan Sherman, granddaughters, Emily Hernandez, Christina Lewis and Ashley Scheonberger, brothers, John and James Forshay, sisters Ellen Houser and Julia Caven. Samuel is also survived by several nieces and nephews, special friend Joy Paulsen and many extended family and friends. He is predeceased by his sisters Alice DeNoyelles and Doris Dauska. Samuel was an avid fisherman and hunter who treasured his time in the outdoors with family and friends. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be held on Wednesday December 23, 2009 from 2-4&7-9pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Rd Pine Bush, NY. Services will be held at 8:30pm at the Funeral Home.
