William “Bill” Scheinert, 83 of Pine Bush, NY passed away on October 9, 2022 in Beacon, NY with his daughters by his side. The son of the late William A. Scheinert and Catherine E. Herzog, he was born on May 20, 1939 and raised in Queens, NY. Bill graduated from Hunter College in the Bronx and served in the US Military, Berlin Brigade in Germany. Bill worked for IBM for 28 years in NYC and East Fishkill, NY. After retirement, he opened a small garage restoring antique cars in New Windsor. He was an avid car enthusiast and mechanic with a fondness for antique British sports cars. He was especially fond of his prized possession, a 1959 Austin Healey Bug Eyed Sprite. He was a past vice president and member of Brits of the Hudson car club. Bill was a generous man with a good sense of humor who loved to talk. He also enjoyed spending time at his house in Middleburgh, NY where many wonderful memories were made with friends and family.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Linda; daughter Coralee Glasspoole and her husband Jamie; daughter Julie Palinkas and her husband Christopher; and daughter Amy Scheinert. He is also survived by his six grandchildren: Austin and Chase Glasspoole, Jovan and Meryl Palinkas, Tara Shumate, and Kristen Castle. Visitation will take place on Friday, October 14, 2022 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at William M. Gagan Funeral Home, 1525 Burlingham Road, Pine Bush, NY. Funeral services will take place Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 10 am at the funeral home. Burial with Full Military Honors will take place at New Prospect Cemetery.
