Dearest Makenzie,
I am glad that you lived in a world where words didn’t matter very much, because there aren’t any that would do justice to your friendship with Tomas. I am also glad he lives in that same world so I don’t have to explain the void of not having you in it. My favorite school stories are of the two of you playing together and making connections with each other where other people couldn’t reach. I will be praying for your family, for peace and understanding, so they can carry their love for you and their grief for you all mixed up together in a package of burden and beauty.
