Obituary of Joseph T. Cilia

Joseph T. Cilia September 8, 1928 - October 28, 2007 Walden - Joseph T. Cilia, formerly of Pine Bush, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, October 28, 2007 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh Campus. He was 79. The son of the late Vincenzo and Jennie Cascone Cilia, he was born September 8, 1928 in Brooklyn, N.Y. Joe was a retired clerk for the New York Stock Exchange, and he was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Ukrainian Catholic Church in Hamptonburgh. Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Elizabeth Blackler Cilia, at home; seven loving children: Maria Mitchell and her husband, Dennis of Pennsylvania; Vincent Cilia and his wife, Jennifer of Pennsylvania, Jean Asselin and her husband, Jon of Vermont, Dominic Cilia and his wife, Kristina of Virginia, Philip Cilia of Schenectady, N.Y., Teresa LaFata and her husband, Nicholas of Pennsylvania, and Annie Hemmer and her husband, Matt of Rock Tavern. He is further survived by 27 loving grandchildren; one loving sister, Nellie Cilia; one loving niece, Maureen DeMarinis and one loving nephew, Raymond Marrazzo. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Cilia. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 31, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home, Inc., 1525 Burlingham Rd., Pine Bush, NY 12566. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, November 1, at 10 a.m. at St. Andrew the Apostle Ukrainian Catholic Church in Hamptonburgh, N.Y., with the Rev. Yaroslav Kostyk officiating.
