Obituary of Donald C. Coates

Donald C. Coates Donald C. Coates, a longtime resident of Pine Bush, died Thursday, July 20, 2006 in Salem, Va. He was 74 years old. He was the son of Donald Coates and Helen Armbuster Coates, and was born on October 6, 1931 in New York City, N.Y. Donald was a retired electrician for American Felt and Filter Co., New Windsor. He was a veteran of 82 Airborne Division of the Army, a member of the G. Paul Bettinger Post #1308, American Legion having served as Commander in 1985. A member of the Church of the Infant Saviour in Pine Bush. A 32 Degree Mason with the Wallkill Lodge, Walden, being a former Master. Pine Bush Senior Citizens and the Walker Valley Senior Citizens. Survivors include beloved wife, Vilma Corti Coates at home; loving son, Donald C. Coates Jr. and wife Jeanette of Pine Bush; beloved grandchildren, Ashley Scott and Michael Coates; loving brother, Edward Coates and wife, Joann of Callicoon; loving sister-in-law, Mary Coates of New City, N.Y.; loving brother-in-law, Louis Corti and wife, Cathy of Pine Bush, and several nieces and nephews. A family statements reads "Donald was very much loved by his grandchildren, family and friends. His life will go on as an organ donor." American Legion services and Masonic services will be held Sunday evening. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 23, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home, 1525 Burlingham Rd., Pine Bush. Funeral Mass will be on Monday, July 24, 2006 at 10 a.m. in Church of the Infant Saviour, Route 302, Pine Bush, with Father Kevin Gallagher officiating. Burial will be in New Prospect Cemetery, Pine Bush. Memorials in Donald's memory may be made to the Church of the Infant Saviour Building Fund, 22 Holland Avenue, Pine Bush, NY 12566.
