Please share a memory of Carol to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Carol M. Comeau
Bloomingburg, NY
Carol M. Comeau of Bloomingburg, NY entered into rest on
February 17, 2013 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. She
was 88. She was the widow of John Comeau, who was the love of
her life. Carol was born in Hasbrouck, NY on April 27, 1924 to
Royal G. & Hazel G. LaBagh Kile. Carol grew up in
Hasbrouck, where she happily spent her days exploring the family's
farm lands and brook. She graduated from Hope College in
Holland, Michigan with a Bachelors Degree. She married and
spent her life as a homemaker and Mother and a faithful employee of
Ramapo Catskill Library System in Middletown, NY serving as a
Librarian there. After her retirement, she enjoyed the
outdoors, gardening, bus trips, knitting mittens, but most of all
spending time with her Grandchildren. Mom always had the most
beautiful daffodils in the Spring for all to enjoy. Mom was
an avid reader and devoted many hours volunteering her time at the
Town of Crawford Library in Pine Bush. She was a member of
the Pine Bush Methodist Church. Left with the wonderful memories
and loving moments Carol gifted to them throughout her life are her
five children: Patricia Crist and her husband Stephen of
Reidsville, NC, Barbara Madison and her husband James of
Grahamsville, NY, Timothy Canfield and his wife Mary of Burlingham,
NY, Stephen Canfield and his wife Connie of East Jewett, NY and
Doris Canfield of Woodbourne, NY. Carol's 11 Grandchildren
Tim, Joy, Andrea, Brian, Keith, Melissa, Emily, Susan, Jesse,
Amanda and Megan will always remember her warmth, her love and all
the fun times spent together picnicking at the cabin, playing
in the brook, playing card games and chats over hot cups of
tea. She was always the best "Gram" to them all.
Although time did not allow many of Carol's 12 cherished
Great-Grandchildren to know her well, they were nonetheless loved
and adored by her. Each of them has special qualities and
accomplishments which would have made Great Gram so very proud of
them. A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday,
February 22, 2013 from 2-4pm at William M. Gagan Funeral Home, 1525
Burlingham Road, Pine Bush, NY 12566 with Pastor Robert
Kersten from the Grahamsville Methodist Church officiating at
3:30pm at the funeral home. Creamtion was private. In lieu of
flowers, memorial donations may be made in Carol's name to the Town
of Crawford Free Library, 227 Maple Ave., Pine Bush, New York or
the Sullivan County ASPCA, 104 Rock Hill Dr, Rock Hill, NY 12775.
