Howard Kempf Formerly of Walker Valley, N.Y. Howard Kempf, a longtime resident of the area, died Friday, April 13, 2007 at O.R.M.C., Horton Campus, Middletown, N.Y. He was 81. The son of Jacob Kempf and Frederica Lorenzo Kempf, he was born May 22, 1925 in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was the widower of Marion A. Lowenthal Kempf, who died October 8, 2004. Howard was a retired Groundskeeper for Pine Bush Central School District and was a former Groundskeeper for the Walker Valley Golf Course. He was a member of the Mid-Hudson Christian Church and Golden Age Senior Citizens in the Town of Newburgh. A family statement reads: "Howard was an avid bowler and golfer. In later years, he enjoyed board and card games with his friends." Survivors include his loving children - daughters: Barbara H. O'Brien of North Patchogue, N.Y., Beatrice A. Kempf of Middletown, and Annette K. Rice of North Carolina, and sons, Howard M. Kempf of Savannah, Ga., and Stephen A. Kempf of North Carolina; nine beloved grandchildren; three beloved great-grandchildren, and one loving sister, Charlotte Kempf of Georgia. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 16, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home, Inc., 1525 Burlingham Rd., Pine Bush, N.Y. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 17, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Pat Burden officiating. Burial will be next to his wife in New Prospect Cemetery, Pine Bush, N.Y.
