Obituary of Hughina R. Cullen

Hughina “Ina” R. (Edgar) Cullen Bloomingburg, NY Hughina “Ina” Cullen, a retired Telephone Service Clerk for Highland Telephone Co. in Monroe, passed on to join her mother Christina, father Phillip and brother Walter on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at Charlotte Regional Medical Center in Punta Gorda, Fl. She was 82. A family statement reads: “Ina came to the U.S. in 1931 from Glasgow, Scotland and proudly became a U.S. citizen in 1955. Ina was an avid reader. As a young girl she took voice lessons, and later sang at weddings and with the marching band at the Memorial Day Parade. There are no words to express the void we all share but the family memories Ina made sure we all had, will carry us through.” Ina is survived by the love of her life for over 60 years, Edward, at home. What gave her great joy were her children Patricia and her husband Todd Berentsen of Bloomingburg, Elizabeth and her husband John Ross of New Jersey, John Cullen and his fiancé Diane Poling of Delaware, Christine and her husband John Mahoney of Middletown, and Edward Cullen and his wife Kathy of Florida. Her life was full of love and happiness brought by her 17 grandchildren, who all thought of Nan’s house as their home. She felt incredibly blessed as her great grandchildren started to arrive. There are 14, and the newest great grandchild is to arrive next month. Visitation will be held on Monday March 8, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc, 1525 Burlingham Road, Pine Bush, NY. A funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday March 9, 2010 at 11:00am at the Hopewell Presbyterian Church, Thompson Ridge, NY with the Rev. Kenneth Wonderland officiating. Burial will take place at New Prospect Cemetery.
