Obituary of Gloria Sawitsky

Gloria Sawitsky Pine Bush, NY Gloria Sorresse Sawitsky 87, of Pine Bush, NY passed peacefully into God's hands on Wednesday, October 31, 2012. She was 87. The daughter of the late Leonardo Sorresse and Vittoria D'Amato Sorresse she was born in New York City and was the youngest of 10 children. She grew up in the Bronx and she and her husband Bill raised 6 children of their own. Gloria worked for Dr Nicholas Cea and was loved by many of his patients. She was an active member of St. Theresa Church and School and helped to run many church functions. She continued to be active in the church at St. Ann's when she and Bill move to Tobyhanna, PA and then at Infant Savior Church in Pine Bush, New York as a Eucharistic Minister. Her competitive spirit made her an above average bowler and she enjoyed the sport as well as her friends. Her life was guided by her faith and love for God and family. She instilled her positive outlook of life in her family and gave them "faith, hope and love and the greatest of these is love." Gloria was predeceased by her husband, William Sawitsky and eight of her siblings and by her granddaughter, Victoria Giangoia. She is survived by her daughters, Katherine (John) Murray of Stony Brook, NY, Judith (Bob) Giangoia of Stamford, CT, Maria (Brian) Parks of Seattle, WA, her son Stephen and Dawn Sawitsky of Pine Bush, NY, her daughter Anne (Alex) Depaoli of Pittsburgh, PA, and her son Joseph (Theresa) Sawitsky of West Chester, PA. , 18 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Diana Canzoniero. Visitation will be held on Sunday November 4, 2012 from 1-4pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Rd. A funeral mass will be offered on Monday November 5, 2012 at 10am at the Church of the Infant Saviour with Fr. Kevin Gallagher officiating. Burial will take place in the family plot in Laurelwood Cemetery; Stroudsburg, PA In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Infant Savior Church, 22 Holland Ave, Pine Bush, NY 12566.
