John W. Scott Walker Valley, NY "When one tugs at a single thing in nature, he finds it attached to the rest of the World" - John Muir John W. Scott a retired Business Manager for IBM and lifelong resident of the area, passed away in the comfort of his home with family and loved ones by his side on Friday March 6, 2015. He was 73. The son of the late Lloyd W. Scott and H. Catherine Trzaska Scott, he was born on June 5, 1941 in Pine Bush, NY. John was a 43 year member of Elks Lodge 171 in Ellenville, President of the Walker Valley Seniors for the past 12 years, former member of the Walker Valley Fire Department, and former Town Supervisor for the Town of Shawangunk. John was also named Ulster County Senior Citizen of the year, in 2012 Survivors include his companion Lillian Ross, daughter; Lori G. Torchio and husband Adam of Pine Bush, son John L. Scott and partner Pierre Pham of Los Angeles, California, daughter; Greer J. Scott and partner Ondrea Sharp of Walker Valley, 3 grandchildren, Rebecca G. Manpel and fiancé George Watson of Circleville, Nichole Torchio and partner Orlando Sanchez of Milford, PA, and Brittaney L. Torchio of Pine Bush, 1 great grandson; Logan Alexander Watson, sister; Jean Lezdey of Queens, NY, brother; William Scott and his wife Nancy of Tennessee. John is further survived by nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. He is predeceased by his sister, Catherine Brundage and brother Ross Heiny. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Romeo Quilatan, Dr. Janice Muir, and Dr. Gurvinder Sethi of Crystal Run Health Care, and the nursing staff and aides of ORMC, especially Monica Nazzaro and Susan Spinato. Visitation will be held on Tuesday March 10, 2015 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Rd Pine Bush. Funeral services will be offered at 8:30pm with Pastor Robert B. Hewitt officiating. Cremation will be private.
