Obituary of Dorothy Friedman Speers

Dorothy Friedman Speers Pine Bush, NY February 10, 1917 – October 23, 2015 Dorothy was born in the Bronx, New York to Louis & Bessie Parnes Friedman. She married the love of her life, Reginald Speers, on June 18, 1941 and moved to Forest Hills, Queens, New York. She worked as a beautician at John Christie’s Beauty Salon and later opened her own salon in Middle Village. She and Regg purchased a small home in Pine Bush in 1952 where they would spend weekends, summers and holidays. They loved the area and moved up permanently in 1971. Dorothy was an active member of the Church-In-The-Gardens in Forest Hills, and the Mountain View United Methodist Church in Pine Bush. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Trini and husband George; her grandchildren Antonia and Doug, Steven and Sue, and Andrew and Maritza. She was lucky enough to have 7 great-grandchildren: Dustin and Danika, Alexis, Mercedes, Jordan, Briana, Larissa and Santino; and 4 great-great grandchildren: Braden, Jaelene, Kenleigh, and Rayna. She is also survived by her sisters Anne Berk, and Charlotte Silver along with several nieces and nephews. We wish to thank Adria and Kathleen from Hospice for all their help during her illness. And Pilar, who took such good care of her. She was devoted to her family and was always there for them. We will miss you mom. God bless you always. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 31st 2015 at 11 a.m., at the Mountain View Methodist Church in Pine Bush. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
