Ernestine Antoinette Dickinson
"Kit"
Frenchtown, NJ
Formerly of Pine Bush, NY
March 24, 1921 - September 25,
2010
Ernestine "Kit" Dickinson passed away peacefully in her sleep on
Saturday September 25, 2010 in Frenchtown, NJ, where she had lived
with her daughter Anne Zahler for the last 16 years. She was 89
years old. Ernestine was born in Pine Bush on March 24, 1921 to the
late Charles and Ernestine Kelly, on the family farm on Black Hawk
Road. She was one of ten children. On October 14, 1944 she married
World War II Hero Clair E. Dickinson and they raised their own
family of four in Pine Bush. She felt her life "had been ordinary
and was proud of having lived through the most exciting times in
recorded history." She was extremely artistic and an extraordinary
cook. Lovingly known as "Grammy Kit" to her many grand children and
great grand children, she was the loving matriarch of the family,
and will be dearly missed. The children, grand children, and great
grand children were the major rewards and happiness of her life.
Kit is survived by her daughter Anne Zahler and her husband Phillip
of Frenchtown NJ, daughter Cheryl Spadola of Lansdale, PA, son
Phillip Dickinson and his wife Diana of Pine Bush, son Clair C.
Dickinson and his wife Melissa also of Pine Bush; 10 grand children
and 14 great grand children. She is further survived by 2 sisters,
Louise Arthur and Nan Hyde, both of Pine Bush. She was
predeceased by her parents Charles and Ernestine Kelly, her husband
of 27 years Clair E. Dickinson, 5 brothers: Charles, Benjamin,
Howard, Arthur and Phillip, and 2 sisters: Amy and Jewel. Our
family would like to extend our grateful love and appreciation to
sister Anne and her husband Phill Zahler for the 16 wonderful years
of care they gave to Ma, and would like to thank Hunterdon Hospice
for their support and comfort provided in our time of need. A
funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday September 28, 2010 at
10:00am at the Church of the Infant Saviour, 22 Holland Ave., Pine
Bush, with Father Kevin Gallagher officiating. Burial will follow
next to her husband in New Prospect Cemetery. In lieu of flowers,
