Obituary of Mae L. Dunn

MAE SAFT DUNN May 3, 1933 – December 20, 2015 Pine Bush, NY Mae Dunn passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday, December 20, 2015. Mae was born to John E. & Erna Kab Saft on May 3, 1933 in the old farmhouse on Vinegar Hill Road in the Town of Shawangunk, Ulster County, where she spent her early years loving life, roaming all 150 acres of the family farm on her horse Dutchess. She graduated Pine Bush High School, class of 1951, starting school in a one-room schoolhouse in Burlingham, NY. Mae’s life was spent volunteering and helping others in many ways. She joined the newly-formed Pine Bush Ambulance Corps in 1964 where she volunteered for over 40 years. She ran the St. Jude Bike-a-thon for 15 years, served as secretary and scorekeeper of the Pine Bush Little League, and was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She never said no when asked for help. Mae is survived by her three sons, Allen K Dunn and wife Laurie of New Orleans, Eric J. Dunn and wife Jacqueline of Newburgh, and Joseph P Dunn and wife Anita of Pine Bush; grandchildren Allen J. Dunn and wife Kara; Eric Dunn Jr. and fiancé Stephanie, Kader Dunn and Karlie Dunn; and great-grandson Mason Cooper Dunn; nieces Cindy Benjamin, Kerrie Gambino, Jean Feller, Nancy Wright, Phyllis Sendelback; nephews Steve Saft, John Saft; and many great-nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Allen J. Dunn, her parents John & Erna Saft, her sister Edna Dorey, and her brother Richard Saft. Visitation hours will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm at William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Rd Pine Bush. A service of remembrance will be celebrated at the funeral home at 10am followed by burial in New Prospect Cemetery on Thursday, December 24, 2015. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mae Dunn’s name to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties. Arrangements entrusted to the William M.
