Robert L. Holmes and retired Employee for the NYS Dept of Corrections and longtime resident of the area passed away on Tuesday December 6, 2016 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. He was 75. The son of the late John Holmes and Mildred Decker Muer, he was born on July 10, 1941 in Teaneck, NJ. Robert was a member of the BPOE Lodge 1097 in Middletown NY. A Veteran of the US Marines, Robert served his country during Vietnam. Survivors include his wife Dolores, at home, 2 daughters; Vicki Brentnall and her husband Alan of Montgomery, and Alicia Holmes of Montgomery, grandson; Robert Noel Dewitt of Montgomery, and 1 brother; Paul Holmes of South Carolina. Visitation will be held on Sunday December 11, 2016 from 2-5pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Rd Pine Bush NY 12566. Cremation will be private.
