Obituary of Elizabeth G. Sasso
ELIZABETH “BETTY” SASSO
PINE BUSH, NY
02/02/1929 – 04/23/2017
Elizabeth (Betty) Sasso, 88, passed away on April 23, 2017 very peacefully, surrounded by her family, at Park Manor Nursing home in Middletown, NY, after suffering a stroke last November.
Betty was born in Middletown, NY on Feb.2, 1929 to Charles and Charlotte Tuttle. She met her true love, Joe Sasso, while roller skating at the Bloomingburg Roller Rink. They were married on December 6, 1947 and enjoyed 53 years of true love in Pine Bush.
She worked in the cafeteria at Pine Bush Schools for many years. She was a member of the Infant Saviour Church in Pine Bush, the Pine Bush Senior Citizens, and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Betty was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed the simple things in life, especially getting together with her Friday lunch crew at McDonald’s, where she enjoyed her mocha frappes. She looked forward to her Tuesday Senior Citizen group, especially table #1 and playing Bingo. She cared deeply about her family and friends and loved spending time with them. She was a kind, gentle woman. She was a great story teller and we could always rely on her answers to questions we had from the past. She had her faith to guide her and her prayers for others were endless. We were blessed to have known and loved her. We will miss you deeply, but we know that you are now at peace.
Betty is survived by her loving daughter, Sherri McConnell and husband, Ed of Pine Bush; grandson Chris McConnell and his wife Janeen and their son, Braeden of Highland, NY; grandson Eddie McConnell and his companion Kim Altman and their daughters, Lexi and Brea McConnell of the state of Florida. She is also survived by her niece and nephew and their families.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Joe and her very close friend and companion, Tom Scarpulla. She has joined many loved ones in her new afterlife, including her brothers, Ed and Lloyd Tuttle and sister Doris. Cremation took place at the convenience of the family and a memorial service will be offered on May 1st, at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Infant Saviour in Pine Bush. Interment of ashes will take place following the service at New Prospect Cemetery.
A very special thank you from the family goes out to the staff on Unit 2 at Park Manor. You were wonderful to Betty and you treated her like she was your family member. We appreciate your kindness to all of us.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Pine Bush Ambulance Corp, PO Box 407 Pine Bush, NY 12566 or the Pine Bush Fire Department, PO Box 1, Pine Bush, NY 12566.
