Obituary of Palmira Pereira

Palmira Pereira passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Orange Regional Medical Center on May 16, 2017. She was 84 years old. She was born in Celerico da Beira, Portugal on January 28, 1933 to Eliza da Silva and Jose Fragona. She grew up in Portugal as the eldest of her four siblings, which she helped take care of. She also helped by working on the family farm. When she came to America she worked in a factory producing small leather goods. While in Yonkers, she also worked in housekeeping at Yonkers Professional Hospital.
Palmira's biggest joy in life was spending time with her family. Her unique sense of humor as well as her ability to always put a smile on anyone's face will be missed dearly. She loved to crochet as well as always putting on her Portuguese music and dance around her house. She passed away less than 2 months after her loving husband of 66 years. Their marriage was the true meaning of love. Palmira is survived by her daughter Virginia Inacio and husband Jose of Pine Bush, her son Antonio Pereira and wife Fatima of Yonkers. Her grandchildren Maria, Nelson, David, Kelly, Michael, and Jenny. Her great-grandchildren Adriana, Austin, Vincent, Loyal, Zachary, John Jr., Abigail, Michael Jr., Olivia, and Gabriella. She is also survived by her sisters Lurdes and Leonor and many nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by her loving husband Jose, her brother Jose and sister Alzira. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm Friday, May 19th at William M. Gagan Funeral Home 1525 Burlingham Road Pine Bush, NY. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10am, Saturday May 20th at Infant Savior Church in Pine Bush, NY.
