Louis W. Morgenthaler, a Retired Corrections Officer and longtime resident of the area, passed away on Monday November 20, 2017 in Montgomery Nursing Home. He was 85. The son of the late Louis A. Morgenthaler and Florence Donly Morgenthaler, he was born on February 14, 1932 in Queens, NY. A Veteran, Louis proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War from 1951-1955. Louis was a member of the American Legion, G. Paul Bettinger Post 1308, Pine Bush, A life Member of the Walker Valley Fire Company, Social Member of the Pine Bush Fire Department, VFW and Pine Bush Seniors. Survivors include his 2 sons, Richard A. Morgenthaler and his wife Carolyn of Pine Bush, and Robert L. Morgenthaler of Pine Bush, Grandchildren, Heather Kessler and her husband Jamie, Kelly Bryant, Scott Morgenthaler and his wife Kami, Great grandchildren, Jackie, Taylor and Jamie Lynn Kessler, Donna and Kevin Bryant. Louis is further survived by his Dear friend and companion, Ann Edgar of Pine Bush, nephew, Mickey Price and niece, Linda Davis and predeceased by his wife, Mary Morgenthaler, daughter in law, Kitty Morgenthaler, sister, Florence Price and niece Cathy Bowen. Visitation will be held on Sunday November 26, 2017 from 2-6pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Rd Pine Bush, NY. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday November 27, 2017 at 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Robert B. Hewitt officiating. Burial will take place in Walker Valley Cemetery with full Military Honors.
