Obituary of Nancy E. Foos
Nancy E. Foos
Pine Bush, NY
Nancy Elizabeth Foos, aged 83, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2017 surrounded by her family at Park Manor Rehabilitation Center in Middletown, NY. Nancy was born on November 19, 1934 in Walden, NY , the daughter of Clark and Marion Quick. She lived most of her married life in Pine Bush, NY. Nancy loved animals her entire life. She was never without a dog by her side or a kitty in her lap. As a young lady she enjoyed roller skating with her friends. In fact, that’s where she met the love of her life Robert Foos Jr. whom she married May 1, 1954. Nancy also loved flowers and since she had a green thumb her window boxes, planters and gardens were always lush and beautiful. Her devoted husband also brought her wild flower bouquets, which he lovingly picked himself, all summer long. African Violets were always blooming on her windowsill. It wasn’t long before a family of 2 became a family of 3, then 4, then 5; a girl and 2 boys who were what she lived for. She was a stay at home mom and her children’s lives were filled with love and fun. She was an excellent cook and baker. Dinner was always followed by something sweet and yummy. When the children were older Nancy started volunteering at Horton Medical Center in Middletown, NY in the medical records department. She was a volunteer there for many years. She was a lifetime member of the Long Lane Ladies Sewing Circle. This was a group of neighbors who met weekly at each other’s homes to sew, knit or crochet. They paid 50 cents a week into a fund and when they had enough they went out to dinner. She maintained contact with those women her whole life. Nancy played the flute and the organ. From hymns to rock-n-roll and country, she loved music. She was a member at New Prospect Reformed Church and was active in many church events. She was a quiet woman but a wonderful conversationalist and could put anyone at ease with just a few words. You might not have expected it, but Nancy had a quick wit and out of nowhere she would come out with some real zingers leaving those around her laughing out loud. n her younger years she and Bob enjoyed Square Dancing and playing Pinochle. After Bob’s retirement Nancy and Bob spent winters traveling in their motor home throughout the South visiting family and friends. One of her best memories was a cross country trip they took together. When they weren’t traveling they spent all their spare time with family. Nancy is survived by 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren whom she adored every second of her life and they her. Nancy could be found playing games, teaching them to bake, or taking them shopping. Everyone felt special. Even their friends called her “Grammy.” Nancy will be remembered as a kind, sweet, gentle, loving woman who’s life encompassed all things pure and good. Nancy is survived by her spouse of 63 years Robert Foos Jr, her 3 children, Barbara Howland and her husband Ray Macur, Robert Foos III and his wife Carol, and Timothy Foos.
