Peter deJong a Dairy Farmer and long time resident to the area passed away on Saturday December 30, 2017 at the Valley View Center in Goshen. He was 83.  The son of the late Louis deJong and Ida Steenbeck deJong he was born on March 21, 1934 in Friesland Grouw, Holland.  Pete was the Past President of the Pine Bush Ambulance Corps, Director of the Shawangunk Milk Co-Op, Board of Directors at Agway, one of the founders and President of Down State Milk Co-Op, former owner of the Bullville Auction, and Worked at Mobile Life. Survivors include his wife of 40yrs, Margie at home, Children; David deJong and his wife Genean of Pine Bush, Richard deJong of Delray Beach, Florida, Michael deJong and his wife Madeline of Rock Island, TN, Vicki Kolvenbach and her husband Doug of Montgomery, Donna Chrinian and her husband Eugene of NJ, Richard Vasquez and his wife Heather of Pine Bush, and Peter Vasquez and his partner Stacie Jackson of Montgomery, 16 grand children, 3 great grandchildren and brothers; Henry and Joseph deJong. The family would like to give a special thank you to Leslie and the staff of Valley View for the wonderful care and attention that was given to Peter. Peter is further survived by several nieces and nephews, and is predeceased by his brother, John deJong and his granddaughter, Gabrielle Vasquez. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday January 7, 2018 from 2-5pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Rd Pine Bush, NY. Cremation was held at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
