Walter J. Konefal a lifetime resident of the area and Heavy Equipment Operator for Local 825 Operating Engineers,  passed away on Monday January 29, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Wayne NJ.  He was 86.  The son of the late John Konefal and Mary Gusicoria Konefal, he was born on April 10, 1931 in Pine Bush, NY. Walter was the proud owner of the Konefal Family Farm in Pine Bush, a championship basketball player and graduate of Pine Bush High School, member of the Church of the Infant Saviour, member of the Beaver Brook Rod and Gun Club, avid hunter and fisherman, former member of the Pine Bush Vol Fire Department, involved with Harness Racing, and a very active member of the community. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mary at home, daughter, MaryJane Konefal Muller and her husband Frederick of Pine Bush, 2 grandchildren, Walter John Muller and Marianna Elizabeth Muller also of Pine Bush, sister, Helen Bartlett of  Walden. Walter is further survived by 22 god children, many nieces and nephews, and is predeceased by his brothers, Adam, Stanley and Peter Konefal, his sisters, Filomena McClory, Stella Winnie and Irene Firnbach and his sister in law Margaret Fleming.
Visitation will be held on Thursday February 1, 2018 from 5-8pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Rd Pine Bush, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday February 2, 2018 at 10am at The Church of the Infant Saviour with Fr. Niranjan Rodrigo officiating. Burial will take place in New Prospect Cemetery.
