For a couple years, almost 20 years ago, I lived near Bob and LIz and they became dear friends. Now that I'm not "right next door", I stop in when I can. My sympathies to all the Brooks family for your great loss. Bob was a wonderful person and visiting with him and LIz has always been a real pleasure. They both are wonderful, welcoming, happy and thoughtful people. Sitting and talking I always felt the love that Bob (and Liz) had for everyone. We had a lot of conversations about their dog, (the one at the current time or ones in the past) and mine. Bob's dogs changed color over the years, but they were always labs and always bundles of love--who mirrored their owners. They took care of my dog when I traveled during the years I lived nearby---this arose out of Bob asking me early on, "What to you do with Puppy when you travel?" I said I boarded him at a kennel---He said, "Don't do that, bring him here, we'll take care of him". That was a wonderful solution, Puppy had a second home and until he passed away he came along on my visits to Bob and Liz after I moved away. I felt (and still do) like I had a second home too. Bob made everyone feel like they were part of the family--a loving family--who can ask for more? Blessings to him in the sweet place he now abides and love and deepest sympathy to Liz and to their entire family.
Carolyn

Cousin Bob was one of the greatest men I have ever know. He taught me to hunt, to respect the animals in the woods and, showed me what being an avid hunter was all about.
As a kid we were allowed to take the empty soda bottles back to the store for the for the deposits. And, we took a lot of them.
When Mom built her house in Pine Bush, both Bob and Liz, were right there to help Mom and Dad paint all of the walls and apply the finish to the floors. It's just what he did for our family!!
We got to see him and Liz, here in TN, at both the two weddings of his grandchildren. More memories of of a loving father, grandfather and cousin and everyone who knew him.
As I write this, I can't help but shed tears for you Bob! I will miss knowing that you were there ever time we had a chance to be with you.
So many times you have extended yourself for others, your family, our family and especially to me when I was growing up in Pine Bush.
Rest eternally in Heaven - because if there ever was anyone who deserved to be there it is YOU!
We Love You!

My dad began umpiring in 1968...my brother Tony was 8 years old and they didn't have enough (or any) umpires one day so he volunteered. He was active at least until 2004, and continued training district umpires for several years beyond that and visiting the PB ball fields for many years. (He almost missed his 50th anniversary surprise party because he went to the ball field to see who was playing:-) He loved and nurtured so many young people in this community! He was so honored to be named the grand marshall one year!
