Ronald Anthony Pipia, Sr.
Middletown, NY
December 22, 1948 – July 16, 2018

Ronald Anthony Pipia, Sr., 69, passed away Monday, July 16, 2018 at home in Middletown, NY surrounded by his loving family. The youngest of three children, he was born on December 22, 1948 in the Bronx, NY to the late John and Anne Pipia.
After volunteering as a teen at the local police precinct, he joined the New York City Police Department at age 21. He met his first love and soon to be wife at age 16 in New York City. They were married at age 21 on October 12, 1968 in Queens, NY and moved to Middletown shortly thereafter to raise a family.
After retiring from the NYPD, he became a certified tax accountant, realtor, business owner, and jack of all trades. Affectionally known as “The Big Kahuna,” he created Kahuna Cruises Inc. with his wife and set sail to various locations bringing joy to the family and friends who joined them.
Ron greeted every person he met with a warm smile, kind words, and a listening ear. Within minutes of meeting him, it was clear to see that he was a special man. He left an indelible mark on everyone around him - family, friends, and strangers. Ron could be counted on for a helping hand, shoulder to cry on or heart-felt advice. No matter what pain he was suffering, he always asked other people how they were doing and put them first. He will be deeply missed.
He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Nora Pipia; son, Ronald Anthony Jr. and his long-time girlfriend, Laura Tully and her loving family; daughter, Tara Pipia; sister, Carole Muriello; two nieces, Dana Karkos and Lori Giattino; and many, many beloved extended family and friends.  He also leaves behind his beloved cats, Chocolate “aka Baboo,” Gaga, and Ginger Snap.
Services were held privately for immediate family members. Ron was known for rescuing injured and abandoned animals and providing sanctuary for wild life in his backyard during harsh winter months.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Warwick Valley Humane Society, http://wvhumane.org/animalshelter/.
