Elsie Johnson, a Retired Post Master for the Thompson Ridge Post office and lifetime resident of the area, passed away on Friday September 21, 2018 at Montgomery Nursing Home. She was 85. The daughter of the late Arthur Rumpf and Grace Comfort Rumpf, she was born on September 12, 1933 in the Town of Crawford.  Elsie was a devoted parishioner of the Hopewell Presbyterian Church, former Church Elder, and a Sunday School Teacher. Survivors include her son, David Johnson and his wife Cynthia of Walden, 3 grandchildren, Michael Johnson, Alex Johnson and his fiancé Amanda Kirkpatrick, and Jenette Johnson. Great-grandson, Hunter, brother, Raymond Rumpf and his wife Lottie, sister, Betty Moorhead, nephew, Bob Moorhead and his wife Dee, niece, Cindy Prince and her husband Billy. Elise is predeceased by her husband William Johnson, and her brother in law, Bob Moorhead Jr. Visitation will be held on Wednesday September 26, 2018 from 3-6pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Rd Pine Bush, NY 12566. Funeral services will be conducted at 11am on Thursday September 27, 2018 at the Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Thompson Ridge. Interment of ashes will take place at Brick Church Cemetery in Montgomery.
