Obituary of John P. Fay

Fay, a retired employee of the New York City Sanitation Department and 21-year resident of the area, died Sat. March 8, 2008 with his family by his side at his home. He was 71. The son of the late Thomas F. Fay and Bridget O'Brien Fay, he was born April 8, 1936 in Manhattan. John was a veteran of the US Navy, having served his country from 1953-1957. He was a member of the VFW in Rosendale, Post 776 and the USS Gainard DD 706 Association. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Mary K. Gallagher Fay at home; loving sons, John Fay and his wife Patricia of Delaware, Michael Fay and his wife Lisa of Hewlett, NY, Brian Fay and his wife Barbara of Belle Harbor, NY, Timothy Fay and his wife Christine of Pine Bush; one loving daughter, Cathleen Fay of Pine Bush; eight loving grandchildren, Kevin Reilly, Alyssa, Casey, John Patrick III, Daniel, Andrew, B. Rose and Carley Fay; one loving brother, Thomas Fay and his wife Marge of Mahwah, NJ; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m., Monday, March 10 and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, March 11 at William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc., 1525 Burlingham Road, Pine Bush, NY 12566. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 12 at Church of the Infant Saviour, Rte 302, Pine Bush. Father Kevin Gallagher and Father John Costello officiating. Burial will be in the Orange County Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
